The August 31 2012 Blue Moon With The Alexander Calder Sculpture 'Man'
I had hoped to get a photograph of the August 31, 2012 "Blue Moon"
rising behind Alexander Calder's sculpture 'Man' on Ile Sainte-Hélene
as a tribute to the late Neil Armstrong and the Apollo moon missions
but the weather gods did not cooperate. There was a large bank of
clouds to the east that obscured the rising "Blue Moon".
When the moon finally deigned to peek through a gap
in the clouds it was already well above the horizon
as may be seen in the photo above.
So, as much as I was hoping to get a "straight" unmanipulated photo
of the 2012 "Blue Moon" rising behind and/or hovering above 'Man', it
looks like I'm going to have to Photoshop one of the the unobstructed
shots of the August 31, 2012, "Blue Moon" that I took later in the
evening last night when the moon rose higher than the cloud bank
into one of the photographs of Alexander Calder's 'Man' below that
I took when the moon *should* have been rising behind it. . .
The three photos below were taken when the August 31, 2012
"Blue Moon" appeared between gaps in the cloud bank as
it was rising considerably higher than the Calder sculpture.
The moon lacks detail because I exposed for the clouds and sky
rather than the moon. I also took properly exposed shots of the
moon alone which can later be Photoshopped into these images.
